I, Pari Sagar, am a self taught artist from Mumbai, based in Dubai. Art had not been easy for me to pursue, as it didn’t always come naturally to me. Sounds strange but true as being shy in nature it was difficult to express. But I believed that true art is characterized by an irresistible urge towards creative freedom and self expression. As I studied graphic and jewellery designing to give a certain kind of direction to the artist inside me, my interest was always was moving towards fine arts. Working in the advertising field for five years had become monotonous. So left my full time job and finally started exploring art because it thoroughly makes me happy. Sometimes, the strongest of my inner feelings are expressed in small sketch, this sketch inspire me to start painting on a canvas. And with every new canvas I surprise myself learning something new.
A person who has studied art will, make their art opinion as it’s supposed to be. Perfect. But for me, art is not flawless and it doesn’t have boundaries. I enjoy doing different mediums like Oil, Acrylic and Mixed Media experimenting shapes, colures, figures patterns and texture. If I go wrong with my art, I say its part of a creation. It’s rhythm to the soul, a meditation, when words are not enough to express certain emotions I try to show it through my art. Any beautiful experience which unexpressed through words I paint those moments. Each painting has a story to say and some are really simple to understand. My art reflects vibrant emotions of love, romance, peace and tranquility with a touch of spirituality.
Looking for a platform to showcase my art to find people’s feedback with respect found various places like DIAC-Dubai International Art Centre, where I started attending workshops helped me. Being a member of Arte, I enjoy being in a creative environment. Going through the lows and highs, thick and thin I learnt a lot, especially how to express myself. Learning never really ends. In this journey, I met a lot of people, all creative individuals, but each one so different from the other. Every artist with their unique style awed me. Appreciating other’s art work always inspires me to create new pieces of art with my unique style.

I like to create my painting in a series. In the beginning I use to work on an Indian figurative. It makes me admirer and be proud to be Indian,Where I have come from has beauty of its own, its grace and ethic. The series of painting of Indian women, I concentrated on their individual beauty and charm. Determination, Balance, Tranquility were inpired for ” Against the tide ”.
Where as abstract gave me a freedom, playful and experimenting with textures and colours.Mesmerizing entertainting me and everyone who looks at it churned their soul and appreciates it maany a time it worked as a healing for me as well did for the others.
Living in Dubai for 2 decades, I’ve come to an understanding the difference of old and new version of Dubai. Art on heritage progress and cosmopolitan lives. Learned to appreciate old and accept the new. Heritage with earthy colures always felted grounded, soothing to the soul. For new Dubai I tried to use red hot and spicy coloures or blue and purple dreamy look. That’s what I imagine.
Thanks to God who blessed me all the time and bring surprises in my life with all the loved ones who helped me to believe in self.
